Work with children from multiethnic societies

 

Project title: “Strengthening capacities of future teachers and other professionals working with children from multiethnic societies.” Project is implemented by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), where IMOR is included in its implementation.

Target group: children from lower grades from primary schools.

IMOR has included 50 children from the primary schools: “Todor Angelevski,” “Kole Kaninski,” “Stiv Naumov,” and “Gjorgji Sugarev” from Bitola with diverse ethnic structure, mostly Macedonian nationality.

Higher number of the included children is from 4th grade (using former and new programs).

Project implementation: 13 unemployed teachers (from whom 1 MA teacher having applied for a PhD and 2 teaches working on their masters in pedagogy) and 2 students from Psychology Faculty from the Slavic Institute.

Working methods: one teacher - one child. According to the needs and two or three children with a teacher.

Activities: teaching children from lower grades who have difficulties acquiring the curriculum and helping through writing the homework assignments (especially for the subjects of Mathematics, Macedonian and English language).

Education is free. While children are residing in the premises of IMOR (mainly one hour when most fit for them) snack is provided.

Frequency of coming is an individual and is not limited. Every child comes under their own needs and can come every day if required.

The work is transparent for all parties included. IMOR is open for cooperation with everyone that would show an interest and will.

Working hours: every day from 9 am to 3 pm.

Period: December 2009 – May 2010
